AQUA STROKES for children from approximately 4 years onwards
Our Aqua Strokes program offers classes starting right from beginners upwards and can accommodate even the most nervous swimmers. Aqua Jems caring, patient staff, pride themselves in ensuring every individuals needs are catered for every lesson. The skills of the teaching staff is beyond purely teaching swim techniques and Aqua Jems staff use many techniques to gain trust, and engage the children. Teachers are very experienced in overcoming key issues seen in new swimmers ranging from water phobia to fear of large groups or noisy environments etc.
We have a maximum teacher to swimmer ratio of 1 to 4 in Aqua Strokes classes, this offers each child more attention from our staff and ensures every child is provided with more teaching points increasing their level of progress including rate of stroke development.
Swim teachers working within the water, instead of the traditional swim teacher standing on the side and taking a more authoritative position, which can seem imposing, particularly to younger and less confident swimmers or swimmers with distinctive emotional needs. From this position staff are more able to be supportive and effective in correcting errors in body position or stroke and we find less confident swimmers advance quicker.
Every Aqua Strokes lesson is delivered based on the specific areas that each individual child needs to improve on rather than a schedule of delivery e.g Week 1 front crawl, Week 2 backstroke, Week 3 breaststroke etc. Aqua Jems is very keen to encourage children to progress happily but rapidly, and so if we feel a child has a swimming ability above that of their actual age we will always endeavour to accommodate their distinctive emotional needs in a higher group, ensuring every child gets the most out of every lesson. With this ethos and approach we find swimmers progress is accelerated and that we produce pupils of a very high standard.
Aqua Strokes lessons are delivered on a continuous basis, there is no re-booking system once you have your place in a class that is yours until you decide otherwise and we don't ask for weeks and weeks of payments in advance. The lessons run all year with just three weeks with no lessons as we find this maximises progress and that families like the routine. We offer a trial session and after that our payment terms are simply one month at a time in advance by standing order on the same date each month, making our sessions more convenient for your finances. (Please note that our Wyre Forest School lessons in Kidderminster and Langley Primary School lessons in Solihull run in term time only. Because of this, payments are made in advance for each half term.)

Throughout Aqua Strokes children are periodically rewarded and encouraged by the achievement of an award from the Swim England Learn to Swim Scheme (Stages 1-7). This is a wonderful way of recognising achievement and progress and the children are always very proud to receive the next award.
